A sumptuous Caribbean Breakfast at the TIFF Bell Lightbox greets invited industry delegates to the CTI Big Pitch, an event that is growing in size every year and is becoming one of the must-attend events during TIFF.

Each year, participants of the MIP have the chance to pitch to working entertainment professionals. These include acquisition and distribution executives, producers and directors who are all actively looking for new content. This unique opportunity, designed exclusively for CTI participants, gives them a chance to pitch and present their projects a in a friendly, supportive and receptive environment.

In addition to the exposure given to the participants to pitch to industry professionals, the participants have an opportunity to win the following:

  • CTi Incubator Jury 1st Prize
  • CTi Incubator Jury 2nd Prize
  • CTi Incubator Jury 3rd Prize
  • + The Alex Tapscott and Amy Welsman Audience Award

The privilege one gains as a valued member of the Incubator is priceless. And when it’s over, you certainly knew why you were chosen in the first place, and how your life in film will change.

Dalton Narine – Director “Mas Man”

I can say that the CaribbeanTales Incubator program has elevated my status in the Dominican film community. The things I learned in the program, like preparing for a professional pitch, definitely aided in securing the funds for my first feature film, which I’ll be producing next month.

Francisco Montas – Writer/Director

Participating in the 2016 CaribbeanTales Incubator was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The combined feedback from incubator mentors help me hone in on the need to figure out my character’s “want,” which drastically improved my project’s story potential as well as my pitch. My biggest takeaway from the program is a heightened sense of  responsibility in light of viewing my career goals within the larger context of building the Caribbean’s film and television industry.
