Brooklynites is a television series that follows the lives of a tight-knit group of twenty-something Afro-diaspora bohemians who just graduated from college, are struggling to make ends meet, and find real love in Brooklyn. Maven, is an upper-middle-class Afro-Latina pre-law student from Harlem. She lives with her high school sweetheart, Capital H, a Nigerian-born Brooklyn-bred MC and college dropout who is completely consumed with his career. Maven’s best friend is Lila, an Afrocentric Hurricane Katrina survivor and aspiring actress who lives with her catty cousin Jasmine, an Ethiopian American model that always mixes business with pleasure. Jasmine is never seen without Nkosi, a sharp-tongued Trinidadian-American and openly gay investment banker. Capital H’s music partner is Rock Steady, a graphic designer by day and rapper by night who yearns for the spotlight. Always tagging along is Blunt, a Dominican aspiring R&B singer who’s addicted to weed.
