It’s one of the most popular sports on the planet and has a strong root in Canada’s history. Cricket Nation looks at the widespread impact of the game on various Canadians including some beer league hockey players who gave the sport a try.

In this one-hour documentary written, directed and produced by Stephen Young-Chin, “Cricket Nation” introduces a group of beer league hockey players who believe that if they can play a tough sport like hockey, they can easily handle cricket. To prove it, they accept a challenge. Find out what happens when these board-slamming hockey heroes face one of the best cricket bowlers in Canada.

Stephen Young-Chin

Producer/director Stephen Young-Chin is a York University Film Production graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree, and has worked in the film and television industry for over 22 years. Prior to becoming a producer/director, Stephen worked professionally in three different disciplines in film and television – a rare achievement in the industry. Stephen first worked in staging and art direction. He then became a camera assistant with IATSE 667 and worked on feature films including the very first Santa Clause with Tim Allen. For the past 17 years, Stephen worked in postproduction as an editor, a non-linear editing technical consultant and a facility owner. Some of his postproduction clients include: Miramax Films, Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate, Alliance/Atlantis, HBO and Showtime Network.
